Our Mission

The Center for India Studies at National Chengchi University is dedicated to promoting academic research and teaching on South Asian affairs, with a focus on the politics, security, diplomacy, and social development of the region—particularly India. The Center actively fosters interdisciplinary research and international collaboration, and has hosted several visiting scholars from India, including recipients of the Taiwan Fellowship awarded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Republic of China (Taiwan). Through research exchange and educational outreach, the Center aims to become a key platform for South Asia studies in Taiwan and the Asia-Pacific region.

The Center for India Studies was established, with Dr. Deng-Ker Lee serving as the founding director.

Prof. Ping-Kuei Chen was appointed as the new director of the Center.

Signed an academic exchange Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jindal Global University in India.

Established a partnership with the Taiwan-India Study Association to promote collaborative research and networking.

Hosted several Indian visiting scholars, including recipients of the Taiwan Fellowship awarded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, R.O.C. (Taiwan), and continued to strengthen South Asia studies through conferences, publications, and academic exchange programs.

Focus Areas

Regional Security and Foreign Policy

The Center focuses on India’s foreign policy, India–Pakistan military relations, and broader South Asian security dynamics, including Nepal, Bhutan, and maritime issues. This area supports policy-relevant research and strategic dialogue.

Academic Exchange and Educational Cooperation

​The Center actively promotes academic collaboration with Indian institutions and supports student exchange, such as the partnership with Jindal Global University and hosting Taiwan Fellowship scholars.

Public Engagement and Taiwan–India Dialogue

The Center organizes academic seminars and public events in Taiwan to deepen understanding of India among Taiwanese scholars, students, and civil society. By building a platform for dialogue, we aim to strengthen Taiwan’s intellectual and cultural engagement with India.
